Marilyn Monroe Item Sold to Highest Bidder…
It has been almost 47 years since the tragic death of American icon, Marilyn Monroe, but even today in 2009, her legacy and “stuff” continue to live on.
Yesterday, a sling strapped bra owned by the late Monroe was sold for $5,200 by London auction house International Autograph Auctions. The unidentified winning bid came from a caller in Hong Kong.
Judging on how wonderful the bra worked for Marilyn, we imagine that this hefty price tag was worth every penny.
The bra is said to be a modern version of today’s Wonderbra.
Katie Haliford, who designs and sells vintage lingerie in her London shop, stated this of the Monroe item, ” An ancestor to the modern-day Wonderbra, Monroe‘s lingerie gave her the lift and separation without the nip and tuck. The slings and double-cup design of the cream-colored bra worked to pull up her breasts.
Even fashion icons such as Marilyn Monroe, have some tricks up there sleeves!
Because the bra straps were strategically designed, it created the illusion that she wasn’t wearing a bra at all!
Who knows what the mysterious bidder from Hong Kong will do with such a prized possesion, but one thing is for certain:
